Foot Foundations

This class is a fundraiser for The Museum of Northern California Arts, all proceeds will go to raising money for art education at MONCA.

Our feet are the key to a long life of healthy mobility. They are highly developed, complex structures that do so much more work for us than we know. They support us all day long, yet they are often one of the most neglected parts of ourselves. They get stuffed into shoes for most of the day and don’t get to really get to fully relax until you go to bed.

Ultimately, this class aims to not only make your feet stronger and more comfortable, but because of the foot's interconnection with knee, hip, and spinal alignment, this class will make your whole body feel better!

In addition to specific exercises, active release, awareness, you will learn about alignment, walking, and even footwear. This class will leave you with a deep appreciation of your feet and you will walk away with a simple daily plan to start addressing your specific foot concerns. You’ll never want to ignore them again!

This class is suitable for all bodies, ages, and levels of knowledge. If you have any questions please email Morgan.

Intro to Pelvic Floor
Mar

5:30 PM17:30

Intro to Pelvic Floor

The most simple way to describe this class is: “You don’t want to leak pee, do you?!” Contrary to popular belief, it is not normal to ever have bladder urgency or leaking issues. Yes, even if you’ve had a baby or two. Yes, even if you haven’t had a baby. Yes, even if you are a man! Even if you’ve done 100s Kegels every day and you’ve given up hope for significant results.

The sling of muscles at the bottom of the pelvis - also known as the pelvic floor - are much more complex, fascinating, and integral to our whole body health then we are commonly taught. (Even to our mental health if you are someone who is constantly having to worry about being near a bathroom for any bladder/bowel related reasons). Having a deeper understanding of your pelvic floor allows for simple solutions that actually make a difference your daily life.

Morgan Perry is an osteopath with over 20 years experience in bodywork and movement education. She works from a context of whole body health, not just parts, or just symptoms. This class introduces the pelvic floor in an integrated, fully embodied approach, and teaches simple exercises and proven techniques to change the function of your pelvic floor, and even support lower back and hip mobility. Open to all levels of fitness.

Please email Morgan for any questions.

Baby Clinic Day (Donation based)

Baby Clinic Day (Donation based)

The physical stress of birth serves to ignite vital functions that we need to grow and thrive in our world. The mechanics of birth - the compression of the birth canal, hormonal cascades, bacterial exposure, and many other small but powerful processes -- lay the foundation for baby’s needs outside of the womb. The potential for all these needs to be met during birth are there in every birth - medicated, home birth, emergency or planned c-section - every birth is unique, and every mother/baby pair respond as they need to in that moment.

Hands-on treatment seeks the roots of even mild disruptions in the birth process to bring baby back to a more easeful physiological state. This clinic day is to address common new infant concerns like colic, sleep difficulties, neck torticollis, and feeding and digesting difficulties that can often rule the first few months of life. It also serves to introduce our parenting community to the power of osteopathic treatment in helping ease baby’s (and parents’ too!) worries and woes.

To reserve a spot, please follow this link to The Root’s website and find sign-up under the “Privates” tab and navigate to the appropriate week. Please email Morgan with any questions.
